Siegerland’s half-timbered houses

A museum suitcase for elementary schools

The material suitcase provides practical teaching materials for interdisciplinary German, art and social studies lessons in primary schools.

The teaching material builds a bridge between Siegerland half-timbered houses and photographs by the internationally renowned artist couple Bernd and Hilla Becher, and the topic “constructive building”.

In addition, themes relating to “space” are approached - it is possible to discover different buildings and rooms, their functions and special features, and the museum with its architecture and collection.

The suitcase contains teaching modules as well as materials for experiments:

– Various wooden elements with which the children can assemble half-timbered houses
– Materials for bridge construction (wooden blocks, worksheet and connecting elements)
– Large-format photos of Siegerland half-timbered houses
– Teaching suggestions and worksheets for copying on the topic “house/room”

The suitcase can be borrowed for a fee, or used during a museum tour.
