Odor, Immaterial Sculptures

Dialogue tour with Jan Meyer-Krügel, Head of Dunkelcafé Siegen

In the museum, everything revolves around what we can see - or not? What happens now when art withdraws from sight and devotes itself to other senses, when we usually rely so heavily on our sense of sight to “view” it? And how does the experience of a person whose vision is impaired change? How does our dialogue partner Jan Meyer-Krügel perceive this?

The new exhibition “Odor” is entirely dedicated to the power of smells. It brings together works that place smell as an olfactory and spatial experience at the center of the experience of art, thereby taking the focus away from our visual habits.

Jan Meyer-Krügel is not only the director of the Dunkelcafé in Siegen, but is also committed to making exhibitions and events auditorily experienceable with the project “3D-Ohrkino”. Meyer-Krügel and his colleagues have already been guests at the museum in the past to record a 3D audio tour through the exhibition rooms of the MGKSiegen. The opening of “Odor” was also recorded to be made accessible as such an experience.

Ticket included in admission price. Guided tour in German.
