On the Nomadic - about the artistic practice of Anna Boghiguian

Martin Germann

The artistic pratice of Anna Boghiguian (*1946) is based on an idea of the Nomadic that is less connected to a specific culture or a lifestyle but more to a philosophical nature. Mainly it concerns the idea that we all inhabit the same world. Instead of using the well-known artistic media categories, the factor “equality” becomes the aesthetic form which will be used to look at a variety of examples from her work in this lecture.

Martin Germann currently works as a freelance author and curator in Cologne. From 2012-2019 he was Head of the Artistic Department at S.M.A.K. in Gent (Belgium). Before that he was curator at Kestner Gesellschaft Hannover, worked for the 3rd Berlin Biennale and was head of the program of “Gagosian Gallery, Berlin“ for the 4th Berlin Biennale. He has published many exhibition catalogues and monographs and his texts were released in magazines such as 032c, Frieze or Mousse.
