The art of the incorruptible

Lecture by Thomas D. Trummer

The colors shine fluorescent, the themes are precarious and upsetting. People show themselves in conflict and under extremes. Miriam Cahn shows no shyness. Her painting resembles an ethical self-assignment, her pictures are a wake-up call. The incorruptible is concerned with nothing less than humanity.

Thomas D. Trummer has been Director of Kunsthaus Bregenz (KUB) since 2015. Prior to that, he was both Artistic Director of Kunsthalle Mainz and Project Director for Visual Arts at Siemens Arts Program in Munich. He was Visiting Scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA from 2010-2011 and Hall Curatorial Fellow at the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Ridgefield, USA from 2006-2007. Previously, he was curator of modern and contemporary art at the Belvedere Vienna and guest curator at the Grazer Kunstverein. Trummer regularly publishes blogs at artmagazine.cc. He has been a member of the evn Art Council since 2013, the University Council of the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe since 2017, and a member of the Austrian Ludwig Foundation for Art and Science since 2020.

Ticket included in the entrance fee. Please take notice of our current safety guidelines.

The lecture is in German. It will be recorded and provided on YouTube afterwards. The event is part of a series in cooperation with the Art History Department at the University of Siegen and the Art History Institute at the University of Cologne.
