Museum of Shadows

Artist Talk with Diango Hernández und Direktor Thomas Thiel

On May 2nd, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Siegen invites you to an artist talk with Diango Hernández. At the center of the discussion is his spatial installation "Museum of Shadows," created in 2009 for an exhibition at MGKSiegen, reflecting the artist's personal experiences with darkness, fear, and speechlessness. The installation, characterized by strict formality and an atmosphere of darkness and solemnity, features a central statuette with a blackened head surrounded by cubical lamp forms that generate both light and bizarre shadows.

Diango Hernández, born in 1970 in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, and now living in Düsseldorf, is known for his multifaceted works that offer a critical reflection on societal realities. His spatial installations invite viewers to contemplate the human experience of fear and speechlessness, providing an intense experience between light and shadow for visitors.

Ticket included in admission price. The event will take place in English spoken language.
