Miriam Cahn. From TRAUMBEFEHL to STILL LEBEN

Over the past five decades, Miriam Cahn has developed a body of paintings of great expressive power, which from the very beginning has juxtaposed personal experience with public display. Spaces such as the exhibition space, her own studio and living quarters, or transitional spaces between home and foreign lands have been an important part of her artistic practice. Drawing on her exhibition for the 14th Rubens Prize in 2022, as well as works from the collection of the Museum für Gegenwartskunst Siegen, the lecture focuses in particular on changes in her work in recent years. This is examined through the lens of recent groups of works and exhibitions such as ‘TRAUMBEFEHL’ in Berlin and ‘STILL LEBEN’ in Paris.
