A museum that invites to discuss
Museumsatelier (Museum Studio)
What does a museum actually do? And would you like to help shape the MGKSiegen?
At ‘Museum zum Mitreden’, we’d like to strike up a conversation with you. In a relaxed setting, somewhere between an art discussion and a regulars’ get-together, we’ll take a look together at works of art, exhibitions, the museum and, sometimes, behind the scenes.
It’s not about already knowing everything about art or museums. On the contrary: we’re interested in different perspectives, questions, ideas and even criticism. What do you like? What do you feel is missing? Where are the obstacles? And what would need to happen for you to feel even more at ease and welcome in the museum?
Together, we’ll look at what’s already there – and at what could change. Sometimes we’ll talk about art, sometimes about everyday life at the museum, and sometimes about very specific ideas and wishes.
The sessions take place every six weeks, and you’re welcome to come along to individual sessions or every time. The session will be led by Nicole Kreckel, Head of Education and Outreach.
We look forward to an open discussion!

The event is taking place as part of the MKGSiegen ON TOUR project – because we’re currently on the move. From 28 September, the museum will be relocating its activities to other venues in the city, in surrounding regions and online. This is because, apart from the studio, the museum building is currently closed due to the new extension.
