Your Body, Your Art

What does movement tell us? How does our perspective on art change when we don’t just watch it, but set ourselves in motion?

In the workshop ‘Your Body, Your Art’, children playfully discover the connection between art, dance, performance and bodily experience. The starting point is a performative video work from the 1960s, which will be shown in the foyer of the Apollo Theatre over a period of several weeks. Together, participants will try things out, experiment and improvise – with spaces, movements and their own ideas. It’s not about right or wrong, but about getting to know their own bodies anew as a means of expression.

The workshop is part of MGKSiegen ON TOUR. To mark its 25th anniversary, the Museum of Contemporary Art Siegen is extending its exhibition ‘25 Years, 25 Works’ into the public space – with workshops, collaborations and artistic programmes at various locations in Siegen and the surrounding region.

The event is taking place as part of the MKGSiegen ON TOUR project – because we’re currently on the move. From 28 September, the museum is relocating its activities to other venues in the city, to surrounding regions and to the digital space. This is because, with the exception of the studio, the museum building is currently closed due to the new extension.
