Museum of Shadows

Artist Talk with Mischa Kuball and Director Thomas Thiel

On May 16, we are once again inviting you to an artist talk on the occasion of the Museum of Shadows exhibition. Director Thomas Thiel will be talking to the conceptual and light artist Mischa Kuball about his work. The focus is on the currently exhibited slide light installation Kompressor from 1999, which shows images that are reflected several times through the glass panes and projected onto the walls of the exhibition space. On the one hand, these are individual portraits of well-known personalities, and on the other, 81 buildings and architectural icons. The compressor, an everyday machine for compressing gases, condenses and illuminates images of the 20th century. Time, space, language and light - the central concepts of Kuball's art - can be found in the compressor.

The artist from Düsseldorf teaches at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne in the department of Art in Public Space. With his light installations, he uses public and institutional spaces to draw attention to grievances or (cultural) historical events.

Without registration. Ticket included in admission fee.
In German spoken language.
