Mariana Castillo Deball was born in Mexico City in 1975. She has lived and worked in Berlin for many years, and teaches sculpture at Münster Academy of Art. Archaeological finds provide a frequent focus for her artistic ideas, and the interlacing of art and research is vital. Her media range from drawings, film and sculpture to installation and performance. Decisive moments in cultural history are visualized in the artist’s works, allowing us to experience our alienation from things.
